KALMBACH MEDIA LAUNCHES NEW DIGITALMEMBERSHIP

Trains.Com PortalOffers Ultimate Access to New and Exclusive Content for Hobbyists

WAUKESHA,WI/NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 6, 2021)— Kalmbach Media (Kalmbach), the content creator of such respected brands as Trains, Model Railroader, Astronomy, and Discover announced today the launch of a new digital membership product, Trains.com. The all-new membership site, which launches today, will be filled with exciting videos, articles, blogs, and photo galleries, carefully curated to appeal to the hundreds of thousands of diverse rail enthusiasts whose passions and interests range from model railroading and toy-train collecting to train watching and railway history.

“It really is the ultimate online portal for anyone who loves trains of any size,” says Dan Hickey, Kalmbach CEO. “Trains.com centers around decades of deep expertise and knowledge in our stable of ‘tracks’ brands, which include Trains, Classic Trains, Model Railroader, Classic Toy Trains, and of course our first digital subscription product, Model Railroader Video Plus.”

Hickey says the Trains.com platform will feature distinct sections for each of Kalmbach’s tracks brands, providing a friendly and familiar experience for customers based upon their primary interest areas. One key membership benefit is access to Kalmbach’s tracks brands’ complete digital magazine archives, which for Trains and Model Railroader, covers more than 80 years each. Membership pricing is $6.99 per month, less than the cover price of many magazines.

Trains.com will also feature exciting new material daily, including premium video programming, content from well-known Trains media bloggers, and breaking news from the railroad and hobby industries. Trains.com will also provide an array of exclusive feature stories covering current and historical railroading, as well as model train “how-to articles” from respected authors, collectors, and modelers.

“This site has been a full year in the making, and our team is thrilled to offer a dynamic, one-stop-destination for people who care about trains – big or small,” says David Popp, executive producer for Trains.com. “We’re looking forward to providing an engaging, friendly, community environment, where members can share their own experiences and get their questions answered by each other, as well as by experts.”

While the new digital subscription product represents a future-facing strategy for the company, Hickey notes that customers will still be able to enjoy Kalmbach’s print products. “Our magazines aren’t going away. We want to serve enthusiasts on every platform they enjoy,” Hickey says. “Our primary goal is to deliver exceptional experiences, whether in print or digital.Trains.com allows us to reach new audiences and provide unique and distinctive trains content that can’t be found anywhere else.”
