Modelers supporting Ukrainian refugees: The HUB Division of the National Model Railroad Association, a 501(c)3 organization, has set up a fund to help our fellow model railroaders and prototype steam railroaders in their support of the Ukrainian refugee families who have arrived in Wolsztyn Poland. 100% of all funds donated go directly to this support.
The Wolsztyn Experience Mutual Trust Society, together with Wolsztyn Steam Locomotive Depot Cultural Institute, have been assisting in the support of over 400 Ukrainian refugees currently in the Wolsztyn, Poland area. Support consists of funding for food, housing, medical care, emotional support, and all other expenses.
Members of the HUB Division of the National Model Railroad Association have been attending the steam program courses in Wolsztyn for years and have a great relationship with them. Thus, when the steam railroaders in Poland reached out for assistance, the Hub Division set up this fund to support their efforts in assisting these refugees.
Additionally, to provide emotional support, the Wolsztyn Steam Locomotive Depot Cultural Institute will operate a free steam locomotive-pulled special and picnic for the over 400 Ukrainian refugees they are supporting. The crew of the Saturday, April 16th special will be multinational, consisting of members from Poland, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The special will be pulled by steam locomotive OL49-69.
We respectfully ask for the support of railroading community so these refugee assistance efforts can continue, especially as more refugees enter the Wolsztyn area. All donations are fully tax-deductible. More information can be found at the modelers’ website.
