Description
The club site features a 10-section, portable 8-by-31 HO layout with two main lines, branch at an elevated level, an industrial spur, a three-track engine service area with a two-stall diesel house, two tunnels, five bridges, and two three-track hidden staging yards. It is 80 percent scenicked and includes a quarry scene with moving vehicles and a falling tree complete with chainsaw sound.
There also is a 6-by-12 three-rail layout with a double main and three spurs, an 11-by-11 American Flyer layout capable of running five trains at once, and a 40-inch-by-6-foot fully scenicked N scale layout, the Cleveland, Mankato & Eastern, featured in the Nov. 98 NMRA Bulletin.
The club's room features several railroad photos, including views of early Hutchinson railroads and depots.
Schedule
Open to the public 7-9 p.m. each Tuesday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the first and third Saturday of each month.
Admission/Fare
Admission is always free, but donations are very appreciated because we play rent for our space in the mall.
Locomotives/Rolling Stock
The club's HO layout features steam and diesel locomotives, mainly of railroads that operated in Minnesota, and both freight and passenger. Most have Digitrax decoders on operate on the DCC layout.
The three-rail layout has Lionel, Marx and three-rail American Flyer, most at least 40 years old.
The American Flyer layout features vintage trains, many 50 years old.
The N-scale features LifeLife and Atlas diesels with mostly Atlas and Micro-Trains rolling stock.
Special Events
The club hosts a large model railroad show the second Saturday of October each year. $3 admission. Layouts, flea market, clinics, popular vote model contest and door prizes. The show takes place at the McLeod County Fairgrounds, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., in Hutchinson.

The club is located in the south end Hutchinson Mall on the south side of Hutchinson, just off Highway 15 So. at Century Avenue West.
Additional Comments
LLRC, founded in 1993, has 25 members with layouts in HO, American Flyer and three-rail (Lionel, etc.) housed in rented space at the Hutchinson Mall.
