Description
An N scale layout of San Angelo in 1928, the last year both of its two railroads were in operation. Layout includes the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient’s (KCM&O) large two story passenger and separate freight and icing stations (The passenger depot now houses the museum) the round house and large yard plus the Santa Fe’s beautiful Spanish style depot and their roundhouse and yards.
Models of the oil unit train of the early 1920's run past San Angelo during an era right after the first oil well, Santa Rita no. 1, was struck opening up the rich Permian Basin area of West Texas. Passenger trains make scheduled stops and the Doodle Bug run shows an era of great dependence on the railroad.
